We have to change the model for innovation, from that for the wealthy elite, to one for the people that need it the most.. a good interview of Dr. Sam Pitroda, CEO of C-Sam, father of India’s communications industry.
The model for the future must use the knowledge and the “know how” of the masses of people that understand the resource issues first hand. We need to use the tools of mobile telephony and internet to reach out and access this fertile network of knowledge. Where as in the past the highest educated people created technology for the wealthiest companies, countries, and people. The elite serves the elite. Would the world work better if we get the 100’s of millions of people to develop the new innovations for the 100’s of millions that could use them. Innovation based on need in Food, Water, Waste, basic applied technologies and human development needs to change. In a sense a decolonizing will become a true democratization of people and nations. We can build from the ground up and bring a basic level of prosperity and a better long term evolution for people and the planet.
